First Week In July

As I went through my plathera of pictures for July, I thought the easiest way to share them was by weeks.

Let's start way back on July 1st...man that was awhile ago and seems like AGES!  My wonderful son, Allen and my future daughter in law, Fallon drove from Philly to Tennessee to spend the 4th of July weekend with us!  Oh and Linguine too (my grandpuppy).  We watched fireworks and spent a touristy day up in Gatlinburg enjoying the Hillside Winery and Hard Rock Cafe.  Also got to take a ride in a gondola.

Of course the time flew soo fast and it seemed harder this time to say good bye - I just wish they were all closest.  Here's our week in pictures.

Back on track!

So, I have returned after a fall break (kids had an entire week off of school-end of marking period) and trying to get back on track with life here!

The follage was gorgeous driving up and back from Tennessee to Maryland and home again.  I enjoyed a quickie trip down to Florida, visited a winery, saw the ocean & sunrise and my favorite spot Margaritaville.  Then I spent the last half of my week working at my shop, Patches Quilting in Maryland.

Saw a few friends and lots of old customers.  I just didn't have enough time to enjoy Maryland, my husband or all my dear friends.  Work is work.

One of my customers, Nancy brought in her complete Needle Nosh Block of the Month.  This is one of the Block of Month programs I taught at Patches and she was a part of my class.  She also won a blue ribbon in her county fair (Frederick County, MD)!

I have a lot of pictures and realized I never took any fallish pictures - - oh well, here's a few for you to enjoy, until I get some sewing done this week - - which I have lots to do!

Friday is Football!

Stepping away from quilting images to share a new facet of our lives here in TN.  My oldest daughter is in the marching band and that means Football Friday nights.

We are definitely in football country when the local wal-mart does a coke display with the high school's initials:

My daughter plays flute and stands a lot on the 30 yard line (she's the first one in line) - - - it's near impossible to get a good picture through:

And a random shot of the football team:

Tonight's an away game, but next week is a big game at home - even the middle school band will play, which means both of my girls will be on the field together - how cool is that!!

Mental note  - - - MUST REMEMBER seat cushion, my butt was soo sore after last week's game :)

Good luck to your home team and GO WILDCATS!!

Thursday stuff

I normally don't look forward to the weekend, I take each day as it comes.  Yet, I really need Saturday to hurry up and be here so I can get something done around my house.  It's hard keeping up with yourself some days and I'm falling behind on simple household tasks.

Well, took my funky shoes back and order the right size and got the style I really wanted- - -they should be ready for pick up on Monday.  Still excited - can't wait to have them in my hands and retake the picture!

Well, it took me two weeks, but I finally finished cutting all the dresden blades for my new dresden quilt.  There are 3 sizes of dresdens - this is the largest size.  Using LOTS of fall colors!  Unsure when I'll actually start sewing, but I think the cutting was the hardest part on this.  Granted it took me awhile to be inspired, but I learned some new things using EQ7 to design the top.

Yesterday I spent 2 hours non-stop and whipped out this apron for work:

Thanks to my eldest daughter, Bri for modeling it.  I need an apron now that I'm managing inventory at the shop here and being Halloween is my favorite theme (next to beachy) and fall starts in a week....perfect combination!

And finally, this is my new shop sampler I'm working on.  I'm not a Kaffe Fassett fan, but these look like fun to work with.  I have a feeling I might actually want this sample back.  I'm using a pattern from his new book that have diamonds in it....another first for me.

Is it Friday yet?  I want to just sit and sew!
