I try not to post twice in a day, but need to keep up with weekly routines for my blog!
I missed this past week's Friday Night Sew In - - with good reason, my husband drove from Maryland to spend a weekend with me and the girls, so Friday night was spent out listening to a two man band enjoying the company of my husband and eldest daughter (youngest was spending the night with a friend).
So, as I look at what my plans were for last week's design wall, I'm not happy with doing it this week. I know why now I put the UFO away in the first place- - it's just too busy for my taste and I don't enjoy working on it. It might just end up in the "to give away" pile now.
Now, what the heck can I do? I have about 30 UFO's I can pull out, I have some holiday things to sew for gifts, I have 4 BOMs to catch up on. . . . . .mmmmmm, well I've decided to finish this one up:
My Ocean Bargello, I have 2/3's done and need to cut and piece together that last third, then add simple borders. It would be nice to have it done and ready to quilt. It takes a lot of concentration to do this, I've add to rip out 14 rows once and won't do it again. So, this will be my week's project - - along with a few other diversions!
I do have to "whip" out a apron and a few pillowcases for tomorrow nights guild meeting- - crossing fingers we have it. They close everything down here when there is 1" of snow. I really want to go to guild meeting!
Plan on spending Sunday doing a lot of prep work for my classes I'll be teaching in the new year at Gina's!
Hope you weekend was wonderful!
Another day ripping out stitches and repairing the seams or in other words, just trying to quilt new sails.

Sunday Design Wall
Finished my tree skirt this yesterday evening......now I did take the quick, easy, and lazy way out mainly due to the time constrains (meaning no binding, sewing and turned inside out technique). But my kitty and girls approve, so that is good enough for me:
Now on my design wall is still the presents which I'll slowly work on all week and plan to finish it during this week's Friday Night Sew In:
I've been doing a a lot of blog hopping, trying to find new and interesting blogs to follow. And I found this fun game that I wanted to share with you to enjoy as well. Holiday Bingo - blog style! Click on the button to learn more!
Back to Sunday sewing...it's been a chilly wet cold deary kind of weekend - - perfect for sewing!!

Sunday Design Wall
Well, trying to find ways to post in my blog more regularly and keeping me on track with ongoing projects. Here's what I've come up with. Finding a UFO and putting it up on the design wall and making it the focus for the week until it's done!
I started this UFO sometime last year and as I discovered putting up our tree yesterday, we need this UFO ASAP!! It's from the Atkinson's pattern "Happy Holidays". I do plan to add an additional border to enlarge it.
Shouldn't take to long to finish up!
We also put up our tree yesterday, while my husband was still visiting and had our mini family holiday party as well. Christmas will be different this year in many ways, but knowing that it will be fill with joy, laughter and love is all that really matters. I have put up a few holiday things and will add more over the next few days....here's a sampling of our decorations:

Now to pull out all the holiday quilts I have to display!

Another week and another weekend...
gone by. School starts tomorrow and I think we are ready!
There has been a lot going on here. I did some sewing, some golfing, some fishing, some birthdaying, some cleaning and now it's back to reality and work. I took off last week to spend time with my kids to prepare for school.
I have been basting away on my Applique Affair project. Actually I've done a lot of handwork in the evenings when watching tv with the hubby. I only have about 200 hexagons to baste on my other project!
I decided to put away my halloween project. It is just too busy. I love the concept of the design, but I should have used a more solid purple verses the starry one I put with the stripes. I don't think I'll ever finish that one - don't be surprised if it ends up in your mail box someday.

I did more clearing of my sewing area (YAH!) and finally got my design wall back up! It really makes a difference in my attitude to sew! So, I put up my new "quick to finish top" and plan to have it together this week:

And I did turn on my machine this weekend and did a tiny paper piecing project for the shop. There is actually 2 in this kit, but I started with this sand bucket first-it's only 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square:

I have lots more pictures to share, none that involve quilting :) I'll save those for posts throughout the week. Time to get ready for my day.

Design Wall Friday
I got this idea from Kim's blog and being I actually have something new on my design wall, it gave me a reason to take a picture and share it.
These are 13 out of 14 blocks from the Stars Around the Garden Block of the Month I host at work. I'm redoing the 14th block (it was an early block and I wasn't happy with the colors) and then I have to add the appliquéd center and sashing for February's meeting. I've got a lot to do, but I'll get it mostly done in time for class.

I might move a few around still, it's fun just to leave them there until I finalize the layout.
