Life moves on . . .

Trying to find the time to balance my hobbies has been challenging over the past few weeks.  Hubby is now in the HOUSE!   This is fantastic!  Learning to live together is the balancing act between working more hours, sewing/prepping for classes I'm teaching and free time for me!

I finished my latest project almost 2 weeks ago - my second bag!  Grids & Grommets, with charms.  I made my pockets on the inside fit my camera and iphone - though if I make it again I need a pocket on the outside as well:

I made a braided handle which I like, but is too thick to really rest nicely on my shoulder.  This is a big purse and I have it stuffed :)

I also made a new pillowcase for my oldest daughter - the fabric is sushi with cute words all over it:
I plan to make 2 more for her best friends sometime - - - in between things.

Hoopsister's class this afternoon and Pizza Party tomorrow evening - busy busy busy....not to mention I'm working the next 3 days.

A new week!

I have been sewing actually quite a lot.  If you read my other blog, most of my sewing has been for paid.

But Sunday evening I quickly whipped up this little bag for my daughter for school....unfortunately, it is still too big for her uses.  It's from the book Big Bags Little Bags by Atkins Designs:

Then after all my sewing during the day yesterday for work, I decided I wanted to do something for me.  So, I pulled out several UFO's that would be "quickies".....of course 2 hours later as I was "inspired" by what little stash I do have, I ended up working on my pumpkins (I had started off with my wacky cottages, but the fabric I had originally picked was directional and too much work to cut and piece--need new fabric).

I did this online pumpkin block swap probably 3-4 years ago.  There were only 6 of us and so we ended up with 6 blocks.  I'm just going to make a simple wall hanging with them or it can even be placed on the table.  And I was able to find fabric in the stash that works well enough to "whip" this out by end of the week.

Kids are back to school and I'm back to work.  I'll be working at the local quilt shop today for a few hours doing their web/computer work.  It's good to be back in a fall routine, though it might take a week or two for it to fit more nicely with life!

OooOo....it's all coming back to me now...

I'm so excited.  This week I have been able to create, be inspired and SEW!

I need a spring purse badly!!  I want something very specific, but unfortunately, due to lack of fundage, I can't swing the one I want/desire or purchase the fabric that I want through other means.  Thank goodness I do work at a quilt shop and Moda's new line called Frolic will work ok for now.

Well, I copied my current purse's design and made my pockets bigger to fit my iphone and then being creative, make it reversible!   I also added 4 pockets.  Using the light fabric for my spring side and the brown for fall...now I need a summer purse, but I can wait on that one :)

Now, I'm back in the groovy, it's time to do some planting.....it's gorgeous here in Maryland!
