A few weeks ago a friend told me about things that is happening in blog land....people stealing images and claiming works as their own (which has happened to me), people accusing other people of stealing their patterns or ideas. Well, I decided just to back off from blogging and ponder this situation. While I could take time and add my name to each image, I could take time to lock down my blog, I could just not blog again. Then I pondered more and came to a realization. Why I blog? I blog to share my talent, I blog to let other be inspired as I am inspired by their blogs, I blog for feedback and most importantly I blog for friendship.
If someone feels the need to "steal" or "borrow" my images as their own, I say let them. This is the internet and it will happen no matter what. Obviously those individuals need the self esteem and self confidence more than I do. If taking my ideas and images makes them feel more of a person, feel free. As for be accusing of "stealing" others ideas/patterns, if you read through my blog I document everything. If I am inspired by someone I give them credit, if I use a pattern I give credit. All of my works are my own!
Now that is off my brain, I have stuff to share! Don't know where to start being it's almost 2 weeks since my last post......start of with something BRIGHT --naturally!
I have been working for a friend the past 4 months making tops for her business and she has asked me to make a lonestar (ok, a lot of them). Never did one before and let me say it was a learning experience and easier than I expected! This top finished about 60" square and I'm already working on another one:
I have much more to share, but will spread them out over the week.
Another day ripping out stitches and repairing the seams or in other words, just trying to quilt new sails.

Thank you to my regular commenters...
I have to give positive praise to my regular commenters! I have a small following but they always seem to comment on every post. I wanted to you to know how much I appreciate your questions, thoughts and input on my daily happenings. I feel the love!
Are you a lurker and don't like to comment on everything I share. That is ok as well! Just pop in once in awhile and say hi, I would so love to know who is reading my blog.
Here's my number one commenters, which I in turn read and comment often as well (in no particular order):
Some great blogs to enjoy!

Blogging stuff...
since I have introduce my blog to a few unsaavy-internet folks, I thought I would share some tips I use for my own blogging experience.
I use Google Reader to keep track of when my favorite blogs are updated. It's easy to use, need an google account (it's free) and then you just add your blog html's to it. I have mine organized into groups for easier surfing.
I use to use Bloglines, which works pretty well--again you need to create an account. I switched to Google reader because I was using Blogger and had gmail already. Just made sense.
Now if you would like to see who's all blogs I have on my reader, you can visit this page to see what I read. Granted I don't read every day ALL those blogs, but the ones I have on the left side of my blog, I read daily.
Just spent some time cleaning up and removing some tags and other various clutter in my blog.

in a posting mood....
I realized my webrings were out of date and trying to update them was fun (not). Once I figured out how to update them and use the new layout of Ringsurf, I'm going to like the new interface. It's a lot easier now to manage all my webrings under one page. The only thing that I'm not sure of, is why the webring's main image isn't showing up--I'm assuming I have to wait on mods to accept my new updates and it will become active then.
So, check them out....I also joined a new webring from Quiltville for the Mystery participants. Now to get cracking.
Oh and I totally forgot to mention (SOO sorry Kate), check out Another Little Quilt Swap, hosted by Kate North....only a few spots left...hurry...due date is in July - plenty of time to play! it's all full now :(

this blogging thing...
I discovered, I can easily edit everyone's comments a week or so ago....in the process I have been able to respond to each comment within the comment. So, if you notice bold text in the comments, that is my reply. I have noticed some emails don't make it to my inbox and now I can respond to everyone that come to my blog.
Thanks for stopping by.

3rd time is a charm....
right???
I'm playing around, yet again with my layout - trying to bring over my beautiful graphics that Kim made for me and setting up shop here verses my server.
If you commented on the Manic Monday Offerings on my other blog, no worries, I keep the emails and you will be in the running. If you didn't comment, do so in this blog please. I know several folks weren't able to the past few weeks and I feel badly.
Please keep me posted if you have issues again, I appreciate everyone's help in this. I do miss many of my friends from blog land this past month - but I have made several new ones as well!

Another webring added…
I'm joining a group of folks who are all taking up the Civil War Dairies and Civil War Love Letters blocks. I currently run a club at my shop monthly where we are making small projects out of the blocks, mainly using paper piecing techniques. I could start making pdf files and sharing what I create here as well. One customer asked for 9" blocks done on a few to make a table topper, so I'm working on that as well.
I have done a mini table runner already in these blocks:

I'll start working on next month's project and blocks in the next few days!

I'm in the process of updating WordPress to its newest version and my blog seems to be real slow...sorry for the inconvenience. I hope to have it fixed by this evening.

Google Reader…..
worked.....so, if you so desire, to keep track of my new posts here try out Google Reader. You can import your bloglines (in bloglines use the export link) which I just did and it works wonderfully.
Now to actually do something quilty related.....

Things that make you go mmmmmmmmm…..
Ok, my RSS feed link is: http://www.thequiltingpirate.com/blog/?feed=rss2
Now my concern is that in Bloglines at least, it doesn't show my posts. So, I've added my new blog to bloglines and the google's reader to see if it catches the updates.
What reader do you use to track your favorite blogs? Are you able to see my new posts in this new location? Need to figure out a poll feature....

Copyright Infrigments. . . .
Ya know ....welcome to the internet! Welcome to he-said, she-said. Welcome to world wide interpretation!
I don't appreciate getting an email lecturing me on what I can or can't post. If I share a link to someone else's blog - that is NOT COPYRIGHT infringement. If I copy word for word someone else's post and post it in my blog - yes, that is copyright infringement. Not sharing a link.
And for the record, I didn't share the post in question - just upsets me that being I'm a 10 year vet on the internet, I make and create webpages, that I need to be lectured about copyright infringement.
I do feel badly that I might have done that - and honestly I'm sure I have done it, I'm human not perfect. But to be threaten, is not professional in my book.
But so ya'l know what kind of person I am, I blog to share my accomplishments. I sometimes share other blogs that might have something interesting. I never do anything out of malicious intent or to "steal" from someone else.
While I understand this designer's upset and I highly respect the copyright laws, I kinda wish she might have handled it a different way - emailing all the commenters that posted to the post in question was totally unprofessional (especially when again, I did nothing). It just set such a negative mood in me for the evening.
(this is just a vent-I don't wish to state in details all parties involved....I'm all happy now playing with my brand new pink dell laptop)

Blogging etiquette . . . .
I love commenting on blogs. I have really enjoying using Bloglines to keep on top of new posts from many wonderful blogs.
As I was reading and commenting yesterday, I noticed sometimes the owners of blogs return comments on their own blogs.
I never noticed that some blog owners did that until yesterday and I might have personally missed several replies to my comments. So, I need to learn a new system to go back and recheck blogs that I comment in - but I tend to post a lot, so this will be a challenge.
Another pondering thing I have notice is what people put on their blogs. I love wading through links on other blogs, discovering new blogs to read.
I plan to update my blog roll call today with all the blogs I'm currently reading, it's a long list - but I enjoy all of them!
OOooooo ahhhhhhhh---just discovered I'm linked at A Peach In Stitches!! Thank you! :D

Now to go and sew!
