I have done some sewing in between running the shop for the past 5 days. I did a DJ block on Friday (it's been almost 2 months since my last one...see it on my DJ blog) and then I received one round robin back for ME and added borders.
My Lessons From Mamma Group started our own round robin in June with 5 of us participating. They have never done one before (I'm the instructor). Let me tell you, these ladies are amazing! They worked outside their comfort zones, tried new concepts and colors and created 5 beautiful quilts! I like a doh-doh bird, forgot to take pictures of everyone's finished top, but will do so next month.
We all started with making a 12" block to set a theme up for our tops. Mine was holiday based. Here's what I got back from Pam on Saturday:
Center block by me, Trees by Eva, Red stars by Jan, Mini blocks (3" each) & black border by Jane, Gold/Red border by Pam.
Well, I felt it needed just a little more green to tie it all together and so I could finished and hang it up, so I added 4":
I plan to use the green fabric from the border as the binding as well, need to find a backing today at work. I'm very happy with the end result, again this ladies did just an awsome job. I think we plan to do another round robin in the new year when we start out next BOM club.
And I'm very excited to say I'm a winner!!! Lindsay had her 2nd SHNOODLE a give away and I won!! WOO HOO!! I don't enter many give aways because I don't need more fabric/notions/books, etc...but she is making something special! I love hand made items! So, I'm excitedly waiting for it's completion!
I'm almost done with my charge of the shop, the owner will be back tomorrow so I can past the reins back to her. I'm beat! I think I'm going to sleep all day on Wednesday :)
Here's a random fall shot I took in my van on the way to work yesterday:
I think I can get one DJ block in this morning before I leave for work........
What a lovely quilt. You had a great Round Robin, it seems. I think the outer border you chose is perfect!!! Finishes it off nicely.
ReplyDeletelovely colors. I may want to participate in a round robin one day. It makes me a bit nervous though.
ReplyDeleteYour round robin turned out very nice, maybe in another time I will find the time to do a round robin. Your part of the country is so pretty this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteI love your RR quilt. It's amazing what each person comes up with. Did your group keep a diary of what their thougths were as they make their round?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your winnings :)
ReplyDeleteI find RR's so fascinating -- love looking at how the quilt developed, and how so many different quilters contribute to one whole that really works.
ReplyDeleteYour RR is beautiful! I organized one a few years ago with a group of friends. We did a block RR. That was fun, though I want to do one like this sometime too. So many ideas, so little time!
