One thing, I detest the most

about the quilting process...is the cutting...ugh. I spent a couple hours today just cutting out for 3 BOM from Stars Around the Garden (I have a meeting this weekend) and designing and cutting out for my Winter Seasonal Swap project.

I really was clueless where to start on this project, I had ideas back in December, but apparently they got fried along with my brain :D I purchased a lot of silver and blue fabric (which is VERY hard to find btw) during December and this was the perfect opportunity to use it. So, does this look like winter to you?

(just a teaser picture....)

It will be 16" x 16" when completed. I'm debating if I want to add any embellishments or appliqués, but I hope to have it all sewn together tomorrow.

Looks like winter to me. You know me, I can't wait to see all of it. I detest the cutting also, no fun.

  2. Yes it looks like winter to me. I know what you mean about hard to find fabric, that is my problem this season. I can't find the fabric colors my mind tells me I want. I will keep looking and I look forward to seeing the completed project.

  3. I love cutting! I find it very zen. I get into a nice meditative zone and just cut away. I know, I am weird!

  6. Oh -- very wintery!!

I kind of like the cutting - I am not too fussed on the piecing on the machine. I seem to dawdle a lot when I machine piece - but I cut up a storm. And right now I should be piecing the baby quilt instead of reading blogs - LOL!!

And the piecing is what it is all about in the end!

  7. It looks like winter to me too. Like winter in the night. It would be really beautiful with clear and silver seed beads sewn on to it. Time consuming of course but it's only 16" x 16" so not too over the top for that.

I used to hate cutting too. Then, for a while, I had a job making quilt tops and I got used to it. I think my biggest fear was cutting the fabric wrong after I had finally found the perfect fabrics and I was so freaked out I wouldn't be able to replace them if I had to. Not a problem anymore. Weird I know.
