Sewing news for the day

I got my flyer for the Sewing Expo.

I have been to this once before....about 6 years ago and I had a blast! Last time I went with a friend, but I right now I'm solo - so if anyone wants to join me, more let me know :D

I signed up for the following classes:

  • Surprise Stars Quilted Table Runner (3 hours)

  • All About Battings & Bindings (1 hour)

  • Hand Applique (1 hour)

  • Three Applique Methods in Three Hours (3 hours)

I already paid for my classes and entry fee and a few other goodies they offer. It comes on the weekend that my oldest niece is getting married, so I'll spend all of Thursday there and 1/2 of Friday. I will definitely get my money's worth!

I'm so excited. I might get a hotel room for Wednesday and Thursday night (especially being my first class is 9am on Thursday morning and I don't want to deal with rush hour traffic). It could be fun to find someone to join me and make it a girlie kinda thing. I need an away trip even if it's only 90 minutes away :D

Shopping Day!

YAH for shopping day. Here's what I came home with:

  • Orange fabric for backing and slashing on the UT quilt for the husband.

  • Christmas FQ's for 2 more churn dash blocks to work with my design

  • Pink dots fabric to go as backing for Brianna's baby quilt

  • Cheap flannel and some remments to make future Angel Project Quilts

  • 70% discounted patriotic for my Americana quilt and a wonderful batik as well.

  • New quilting tools-14" hoop, basting gun (which they never put in my bag and is still sitting at the cash register when I called...need to pick it up tomorrow), 1/4" seam ruler, chalk tool
  • Lots of fun summer clearance items including my new lap table :D

I also spent some time hand binding the blue baby wall quilt, which is almost done. And I got the Angel Quilts in the mail, need to email them to let them know they are on the way.

Ooooh oO oh, I also purchase EQ5 online yesterday for $80! And ended up with free shipping. I've use EQ4 and previous versions, I so can't wait to use EQ5!! I'm tired of using color pencils and graph paper..it took me over 2 hours yesterday to do something up for my Xmas Churn Dash.

So, a productive day in quilting land. . .

2 more done!

I just finished hand sewing the binding to the last little quilt in the set. Now to prepare them to go in the mail to Angel Quilt Project.

I think I will also request another set, these are just too easy and quick to whip up and take along with me as carry-on-person projects.I did update my quilting albums and now my UFO's list is 51...sweet!!

Next, I have to hand bind my 3 little baby wall quilts and I need to baste my fall dresden and hand quilt it - I want it done in time for fall this year :D

More UFO's done!

3 of the angel quilts. I finished them easy though, using the machine to quilt and bind them and then added some yarn to tie them as well. I have the two remaining ones to hand sew the binding then I can mail all 5 back to Missippissi for donation.

Of course I have added the completed UFO's to my quilting album and updated my UFO's as well :D YAH ME!

busy week . . .

busy week, well the past few days any ways.

I started with a bang making up the Angel quilts, but past 2 days have been distracted with other family things (like getting a new car-FUN). So, I just spent some time updating my site with a few webring sites and also purchase some more fabric for a few UFO's.

I also discovered the Angel Quilt Project website again. This is where my 5 little quilts came from 3 years ago and need to get them out. I feel so badly I completely forgot about them and they really are soo easy to make up and send back out and all for charity. I will ask again for another set once these are done.

Need to take a few more pictures to remove those ugly "Need To Take Pictures Of" images on my UFO's pages and to take new ones of the quilts I just have to bind now.

Another busy quilting afternoon

Finished UFO #1 Angels & Stars wall quilt. Then I finally added batting, backing, in-the ditch quilting and binding to the 3 baby wall quilts. Need something to hand sew in the evenings this week.

I had to laugh at the construction of these baby wall quilts. Eeegag! They are over 13 years old and wow you can see how poorly they were made. Did I mention I'm self-taught? Well, I know I have improved immensely over the past decade, but it's funny to see my work in the beginning. These quilts will not be sold, but handed down to my grandbabies....ekkk...I'm getting old.

Also, started to piece the 5 Projects Angels UFO's, again to have some stock build up for hand sewing.

I took a few more pictures of some UFO's and have updated my web pages.

I won't get much done today, I'll be at an all day country concert event but I am bringing some of my baby quilts to do :D

Updated UFO list

WOO HOOO!!!! I've been BUSY :D the past 2 days I have got through ALLL my fabric and projects and updated my UFO list....I have 57 UFO's.

Some are just fabric waiting to be designed into things, but every piece is accounted for. I still have 1 bin of xmas, 1 bin of halloween/fall, 1 bin of purple, and 1 bin of white/cream fabrics, but all other fabric is going! I of course have already started another scrap bag though....craziness!

So, I have taken pictures of most of my UFO's and redone my web pages to reflect my quilting stuff. See it here. Keep track using my excel spreadsheet of my projects and hopefully start knocking more off.

4 more UFO's done!

Wanna See?

Again, all of these wall quilts were complete minus the binding. I'm now working on the Angels & Stars quilt for my sister (it's picture as a UFO in my album). Then I think I'm going to pull out a few of the other "almost" done quilts and try to get them finished up this month. I'm hopeful I will have stuff to sell in a craft show this fall, *crosses fingers*Received more pirate fabric and a new fabric fortune cookie pattern - soooooo easy to make!! I might just whip up a bunch and send them out. I love shopping at fabric.com :D

Jar Table Topper

I finally finished this...I did a online block swap for food jar blocks back in 1999 and finally put them to use. My brand new oak table is an octagon shape, so it took a total of 40 blocks to encompass my table top. The top piece (on the table) is just one layer of fabric. I figured the weight of the sides would help keep it taunt and lay flat - and it does. I did put a backing on the strip going around with the blocks, so I could "quilt" them. I did a simple stitch in the ditch method for each block around the jar. This is not a normal quilt project because I also use my serger for the edging and to actually construct the top piece with the strip on the bottom.

I seriously started this project mid-June, the 14th to be exact and I keep a diary on how I progress over the past few weeks. I completed it a few hours ago in time for the evening meal :D I'm very tickled with it's turn out.

If you click on the picture, it takes you to a few more images on the progress of this project.

I just updated my UFO's list and now trying to decide what to finish next.....I only have 36 more projects to complete :D...that is if I don't think of or purchase any new fabric for a while LOL

Thanks for looking.
