Jar Table Topper

I finally finished this...I did a online block swap for food jar blocks back in 1999 and finally put them to use. My brand new oak table is an octagon shape, so it took a total of 40 blocks to encompass my table top. The top piece (on the table) is just one layer of fabric. I figured the weight of the sides would help keep it taunt and lay flat - and it does. I did put a backing on the strip going around with the blocks, so I could "quilt" them. I did a simple stitch in the ditch method for each block around the jar. This is not a normal quilt project because I also use my serger for the edging and to actually construct the top piece with the strip on the bottom.

I seriously started this project mid-June, the 14th to be exact and I keep a diary on how I progress over the past few weeks. I completed it a few hours ago in time for the evening meal :D I'm very tickled with it's turn out.

If you click on the picture, it takes you to a few more images on the progress of this project.

I just updated my UFO's list and now trying to decide what to finish next.....I only have 36 more projects to complete :D...that is if I don't think of or purchase any new fabric for a while LOL

Thanks for looking.
