End of one week, beginning of another

WOW!!! I can't believe I'm finally standing on this side of this particular week and I'm so grateful for it!!

Unfortunately, my "to accomplish" list from last weekend wasn't as successful as I'd hoped for, but you know I can still sing praises for one item - that I am especially proud of.

I took my class to make a chenille rug on Wednesday and finally finished it up this afternoon....WOOHOOOO!!! Now I need to bring the finish product back into the shop to show it off to the instructor on Wednesday (her day to work at the shop). I'm VERY happy and please with the outcome of this little project. I wasn't happy with the amount I spent on the materials....it takes A LOT of yardage to make this, but in the end it was worth it for a $45+ rug :D

It is 23" x 42", a perfect size for a floor mat.

So, for this week - being I will have LOTS of sewing time - here's my agenda for now:
1. Duckie Baby Quilt - need to finish
2. Crabby Soup Wall Quilt - finish
3. Shades of Cats Wall Quilt - finish borders

Fun background. . .

playing in PSP X and made my pirate background from 2 fabrics I've purchased to make a pirate quilt with. I still want to figure out how to add more links and a 3rd column set up, but I love my new background :D

This week's objectives. . .

hehehe, sounds like I have a hiden agenda doesn't it? lol Yes, I'm easily amused.

So, here's what I would like to complete this week:

1. Ducky Baby Quilt - need to piece, quilt and bind.
2. Crab Soup - just want to complete the top
3. Chenille Rug Class - unsure how far I will get in class, but hope to have it completed

I just signed up for an exclusive quilting workshop/getaway for April 2007 and need to read through all the fun items to participate in and add them to my excel spreadsheet, otherwise I will forget :D

Busy week with preparing for back to school things as well, but I think I can get these items done. Once school is done, I hope to have more time for me to really kick my quilting into gear.

This past week's projects

I've worked on several projects this week, but this was the most fun:

I took a class at my local quilting store and I was very tickled with the class and the new things I learned. I hope to finish this up tomorrow, it's an easy 18" square wall quilt and will go downstairs in my family/tiki room :D

I signed up for another class to make a chenille floor mat this week. I purchased another new tool by Olfa for that class. I need to pick up fabric for it Monday, thinking a fall mat or a Halloweenie looking one.

Updated my web pages with a few new pictures of new sewing stuff, wish I could put up some completed UFO's, but hopefully by end of this week there were be several :D

Well, I've been busy posting quilting thoughts this evening. Next I want to do a weekly to do list on Sundays, to plan out my week in quilting.

Fun Quilting Terms

Terms I want to remember and use more often, because they are just FUN!

WHIMMs - Works Hidden in My Mind
HSY (pronounced hussy) - Haven't Started Yet
PIGS - Projects In Grocery Bags - just cracks me up, but my projects are all kept in zipper bags
WIPs - Work in Progress
UFO's - Un-Finished Projects (items started and now are sitting in a box somewhere ;)

I found this newsletter online: Prairie Points (page 6) that breaks these terms down and a few more. It cracked me up. I think I will re-evaluate my UFO list and break it down further than what I currently have.

I started with 52 UFO's in June and while I have complete quite a few, I have in turned added more, so what I need to do is break the list down differently so I can actually "clear" it up better. I want to be able to finished at least 50% of my old UFO's by January and the remainder by end of next summer.

I didn't plan on adding new items until I was 50% done, but there's a new baby, there's classes I've started to take and there are WHIMMS I have discovered. So, I'll update my Excel spreadsheet with these new divsions of items and get my UFO's cleared up.

First, official post

Welcome!

I currently am using http://quiltingheart.livejournal.com for my quilting blog, but it doesn't get a lot of traffic and feedback. So, I figured I could restart it over here and met new people and have more feedback for my craft.

I'll most likely start moving a few posts from the past summer months over here, just to start filling up this blog.

The name you are wondering? Well, I'm a pirate at heart and dress up often and hang with my shipmates at parties, rennaissance faires and other piratical events.

I've been quilting on and off over 10 years and am self taught, but love taking classes to learn new and fun techniques.

I've rededicated myself over the past 3 months due to some soul searching and finding and plan to further my quilting adventures as life develops.

Random stuff

I got some things to repair my feather weight machine....YAH!!! And it's working wonderfully again. So, I'll be sewing today.

I also discovered I purchased a domain for sewing a few years ago and it was expiring and so I got an email to renew it. Then I updated my quilting pages and move them to http://www.dancingneedles.net/ I still have some playing to do with it, but I'm happy with it for now.

Haven't watched my required http://www.qnntv.com/ for the day, so I think that is next on the list of to do's today.

New quilting web sites to visit

Visited Patches again today - they are starting to know me :D And picked up some things to do a baby quilt and was given 2 pieces of paper with websites on them.

One has a sweepstakes and supports breast cancer: http://www.quiltpink.com
Second is QNN tv online...SWEET: http://www.qnntv.com

Finished one side of the border for Shades of Cats and it's looking good. I should have it completed by end of day - the border that is :D
